Compreensão de texto: weekends at the beach
Hello everyone!
Aqui vai um texto para prática de compreensão de texto em inglês. O de hoje fala sobre fins de semana na praia: depois, vem palavras e expressões inglesas explicadas, e no final um quiz.
Leia o texto:
My name is Jane and I live in a small town called Silverlake. I like living here, but I rarely stay home on weekends. My friends and I usually go to the beach on Saturday and return on Sunday. Sara, a friend from college, has a car - so she drives us all to a nice inn near the beach, where we stay overnight.
I’m not a good swimmer, so I just lie on the sand and watch my friends. I never forget to bring sunscreen with me, otherwise I’ll usually get a sunburn! We all enjoy playing beach volleyball and Sara is the best player among us. She’s really strong and athletic, so her team always wins.
My friends and I can’t cook: we’re hopeless in that area. We usually grab a bite for lunch at one of the small restaurants by the beach. Before we go home at night, we stop by the local market to pick up some instant pasta for dinner. Not great, but our trips are always fun anyway!
Vocabulário:
overnight = de um dia para o outro
get a sunburn = ficar com queimadura de sol
hopeless = (adjetivo) um zero à esquerda, que não consegue ou não sabe nada
grab a bite = comer algo rápido
fun = é uma palavra muito usada como adjetivo (divertido, super divertido)

The text written above is pretty good but I had the chance to read the word “sunscreen” and as far as I´m concerned wouldn´t it be “sun cream”? Congratulations on the good job!

Hi Farid,
From what I’ve seen, “sun cream” could be used as well (it’s a synonym).
Sunscreen (a lotion or cream that protects the skin from excessive sun exposure) is the word I am most familiar with. Take a look here.
