Compreensão de texto: Brian’s new job

Hi everybody!

Aqui vai o texto dessa semana para prática de compreensão em inglês. O de hoje fala sobre um novo emprego: depois, vem palavras e expressões inglesas explicadas, e no final um quiz.

Leia o texto:

(Andy) Hey Brian, how’s the new job going?
(Brian) It’s going well, but it will take some ‘getting used to’.

(Andy) Why is that?
(Brian) Well, I used to take the subway to my last job. It took me only thirty minutes to get there, and I could always find a seat, you know… Now I gotta take the bus, it’s a long trip and it’s always crowded in there!

(Andy) Hmm… Tough, huh?
(Brian) Tell me about it… Now I wake up at 6 instead of 7. I don’t even have the time to grab a bite to eat before I get to the office!

(Andy) Wow! That’s a lot of cons… Are there any pros regarding your new job?
(Brian) Well, yes. I’m just crabby from the lack of sleep. I work with a great team, the pay is better and I really like what I’m doing.

Vocabulário:

it will take some ‘getting used to’= vou precisar me acostumar
I gotta = I got to, ou eu preciso
Tough, huh? = Dureza, hein? (Obs. A palavra tough é pronunciada tãff)
Tell me about it = nem me fale
grab a bite to eat = comer qualquer coisa, comer rapidamente
pros and cons = prós e contras
crabby = mal-humorado, ranzinza
