Inglês como ele é sleeping

Hoje vou apresentar aqui vocabulário relacionado a sono, dormir, sonhar, etc… Resolvi fazer um texto com expressões em inglês misturadas com português (usando eu mesma como exemplo, como sempre!) Depois, vem as perguntas para você responder nos comentários. Passe também o mouse nas figuras para ver as “legendas”.

This guy is snoring.

Usually when I go to bed I fall asleep very quickly [quando eu vou dormir, eu pego no sono rápido], except when I’m worried about something. I’m a heavy sleeper [eu tenho sono pesado], which is a good thing because my neighborhood is kinda noisy [a região onde moro é meio barulhenta]. My sister, on the other hand, is a light sleeper [minha irmã, por outro lado, tem sono leve].

I have to put the alarm clock far away.

As far as I know, I do not snore [até onde eu sei, eu não ronco]. It’s not easy to wake me up in the morning [não é fácil me acordar de manhã]. Whenever I use an alarm clock, I have to put it far away from my bed [eu tenho que colocá-lo longe da minha cama] otherwise I’ll just turn it off [se não eu o desligo] and go back to sleep [e volto a dormir].

He's having a nightmare.

However I’m usually able to wake up on my own [eu consigo acordar sozinha], without any help. When I was a child I remember having recurring nightmares [eu me lembro de ter pesadelos que se repetiam]. I’m sure I dream almost every night, but it’s rare that I remember dreams.

He dozed off in class.

I rarely take a nap [raramente eu tiro uma soneca]. When I was in college, sometimes it was very hard to stay wide awake [era muito difícil permanecer acordada] while the professor was speaking – I remember dozing off a few times [eu lembro que eu peguei no sono de leve algumas vezes].

E você? Fale sobre seus sleeping habits:

  • Do you need an alarm clock to wake you up?
  • What time do you usually wake up?
  • Do you sometimes have nightmares?
  • Are you a heavy sleeper or a light sleeper?
  • Do you doze off in the middle of the day sometimes?

yes, i need a alarm clock to wake me up. every day i wake up at 0550. i’d say i’m a heavy sleeper because when i fall asleep i bet you couldn’t wake me up. i usually don’t have nightmares. About my routine, every day after lunch i stop a little while for a nap, except when i have a lot of job to do. As far as i know, i don’t snore and i hate sleeping with people who does. My work is hard, so it’s common to doze off now and then, i assume, but it doesn’t mean i’m lazy. So that was a little letter about myself, see you

Well, I need an alarm clock to wake me up when I have an appointment. As I’m not working at the moment, I usually wake up late, around 9 or 10 o’clock. I have nightmares sometimes and I think they are easier to remember than dreams…I really don’t know if I’m a heavy or light sleeper…I think depends on the noise! I don’t doze off during the day…Actually I take a looong nap after lunch! That’s all!
