Hi everyone!

Hoje nossa aula de collocations será sobre roupas: clothes. Em 5 minutos, faça uma lista com as peças de roupa que você já sabe em inglês. Aqui você encontra uma lista básica.

Vamos começar com os verbos? O que fazemos com nossas roupas?

usar/vestir: wear
My cousin wore a blue suit to the interview.
colocar: put on
Sally likes to shower before putting clean clothes.
tirar: take off
Go to your room and take off your shoes!
comprar: buy
Women love buying new clothes every weekend.
experimentar: try on
You can try those jeans on in our changing room over there.
lavar: wash
Don’t wash white clothes with coloured ones.

passar: iron
Could you please iron my clothes tonight?
secar: dry
If you don’t have a dryer, hang clothes outside on a line to dry.
trocar (de): change
The singer changed clothes several times during the concert.

Esses são os verbos mais básicos e freqüentes com clothes. Pratique-os bastante!

comprida / curta - long / short
barata / cara - cheap / expensive
formal / informal - smart, formal / casual, everyday
pequena / grande - small, little / large, big
confortável / desconfortável - comfortable / uncomfortable
justa / folgada - tight / loose
limpa / suja - clean / dirty
legal, bacana / horrível, horrorosa - nice, lovely / horrible, awful

E como não podia deixar de ser (nós amamos vocabulário, não é mesmo?) aqui estão algumas palavras importantes para o nosso tema de hoje:

clothes shop: loja de roupas

clothes brush: escovinha (para tirar pó e “bolinhas”)
clothes hanger: cabide

clothes line: varal
clothes peg/clothes pin: pregador

clothes basket: cesto de roupas
clothes horse: “estendedor” de roupas (aquele muito usado em apartamentos)
changing room: provador
civilian, plain clothes: roupas comuns (policiais sem uniforme, por exemplo)
