Inglês como ele é fazendo uma limpeza na casa

Quem é que já não fez uma limpeza na casa ou no apartamento, daquelas em que a gente joga um monte de coisa fora, ou dá, e reorganiza tudo que sobrou? (se você nunca fez, try it. Feels nice!)

That drawer is kinda cluttered.Com o passar do tempo, a casa da gente vai ficando cheia de coisa (our house gets cluttered). Clutter é uma palavra usada para comunicar algo como “um monte de coisa guardada/empilhada/desorganizada que toma espaço, fica no caminho, etc”. Sabe quando você abre um armário e tem um monte de coisa lá dentro que você nem sabe o que é? Você pode dizer “There’s a lot of clutter in my closet“. É muito comum também dizer que um espaço está cluttered (é a qualidade de algo que tem muito clutter): My house / My closet / The garage is so cluttered.

Declutter é acabar com o clutter em algum lugar (na linguagem gramatical, de- é um prefixo que “desfaz” a ação original – ele pode significar outras coisas também). Vou contar aqui sobre a última vez que eu fiz uma grande limpeza no meu apartamento.

I cleaned and organized the closet.This big cleaning project happened about a year and a half ago. I knew there was a lot of junk in my house (eu sabia que tinha muito lixo/tralha na minha casa), but I had no idea how much. I started with my bedroom – I armed myself with a few trash bags (eu me “armei”/equipei com alguns sacos de lixo) and emptied all my drawers (esvaziei todas as minhas gavetas).

I got rid of old bills and documents (eu me livrei de contas e documentos antigos), and other stuff (stuff = “coisas” em geral) that I knew I was not going to use. Then I moved on to the closet (daí eu passei para os armários) and sorted through all my clothes (sort through my clothes = olhar cada roupa minha para ver o que vai ser feito). That part took the longest (essa parte foi a que demorou mais). I made two big piles (fiz duas grandes pilhas): clothes to keep (roupas que ficam) and clothes to give away (para dar). I put the second pile into two or three trash bags and took them to the kitchen.

 

I donated six boxes of usable stuff.After I cleaned and organized my bedroom, I moved on to the other rooms. The top shelves in all the closets were completely cluttered (as estantes de cima dos armários estavam totalmente abarrotadas) and I found stuff I didn’t even know was there (achei coisa que eu nem sabia que estava lá).

In the end (no fim das contas), my cleaning project resulted in 1) some good finds (alguns bons achados) – I found a great umbrella that belonged to my grandfather; and 2) a lot of extra space: my CD collection got cut down to half (minha coleção de CDs foi cortada pela metade). I donated approximately six boxes and ten bags (doei mais ou menos seis caixas e dez sacos) full of usable stuff (cheios de coisas “usáveis”) to the Salvation Army. They even sent me a thank-you note afterwards (eles até me mandaram uma cartinha de agradecimento depois).

My closets are very organized because I’ve got the “TOC” disease! But look at the bright side: I always donate to recycle projects and make room for new stuff. The problem is that my husband always gets angry if I throw his clutters away!

My closets are Clean and organized. But I need to donate some clothes.

Last month.I organize my bedroom once time for month.

Somethings I donate, other I take in the garbage.
