Como se diz acertar em inglês

Hey there, guys!

Hoje temos mais um verbo que pode assumir diversas formas ao usá-lo em inglês: acertar. Um teste rápido para começar – traduza a frase abaixo:

Acertei 08 questões na minha última prova…

Não é uma tradução muito simples de se fazer, não é mesmo?!

Antes de ver como podemos traduzí-la, façamos uma lista de quais coisas podemos “acertar” em português:

1. acertar uma questão, atividade, exercício
2. acertar o alvo
3. acertar o relógio, o alarme
4. acertar a bola
5. acertar um preço (fazer um acordo)
6. acertar um número (adivinhar)

Em seguida, para cada item acima, tente completar com um dos seguintes verbos:

set – hit (x2) – guess right – get right – agree

a) _________ the answer _________
b) _________ the target
c) _________ the clock
d) _________ the ball
e) _________ on the price
f) _________ the number ________

 

Aqui estão as respostas:

1. to get the answer right
2. to hit the target
3. to set the (alarm) clock (= to regulate)
4. to hit the ball
5. to agree on the price
6. to guess right (=to guess correctly)

Agora vamos aprender algumas expressões. Faremos o mesmo tipo de exercício:

set, bat, march, add, strike, settle, hit (x4), win

1. acertar na mosca = to ________ the bull´s eye

2. acertar as contas = to ________ accounts with

3. acertar em cheio, na cabeça = to ________ the nail on the head, to ________ gold

4. acertar na sorte grande = to ________ the jackpot, to _____ a home run

5. acertar na loteria = to ________ the lottery

6. acertar o passo = to ________ in lockstep

7. acertar tudo = to ________ a thousand

8. acertar os últimos detalhes = to ________ the last details

9. acertar as coisas (definir por completo) = to ________ the record straight

f) Latin America is preparing to settle accounts with its white settler elite

 

Great! Além de aprender muitas maneiras de dizer “acertar”, agora você já pode dizer: “I got 8 questions right in my last exam!“.
